Congratulations to the award winners! A heartfelt thank you to all the filmmakers who created the works featured in our competitions. It is their dedication and creativity that make this festival possible.

1. JURYPREIS 4000 CHF

«The jury unanimously came to the conclusion that one contribution to this festival edition stands out in particular. With aesthetic images in intoxicating colors, artistic editing, outstandingly composed music and great dance scenes, the director creates a harmonious setting for the protagonist Gioia.

Gioia takes us on a journey through her bipolar life story at a high linguistic and intellectual level. We would like to thank director Laura Stek, cameraman Ton Peters and editor Katarina Thürler for a work of art that we wish a large audience and which, in our opinion, fully deserves the jury’s first prize.»

2. JURYPREIS 1500 CHF

«The jury’s second prize of CHF 1500 goes to an entry from Spain. This film sensitively follows a teenager whose everyday life deviates from what we would expect and wish for in young people. Even at a young age, Leo has to take on a great deal of responsibility in living with his severely mentally impaired mother. A highly topical subject, portrayed by strong actors.

The main characters, sensitively portrayed by Afioco Gnecco and Enrique Cervantes, are wonderfully captured by a very convincing camera.»

HONORABLE MENTION

Coexist by Komeil Soheili offers a touching glimpse into the life of a man who lost his sight at an early age and now lives in a breathtakingly beautiful fishing village on the coast of Hormuz.

Far removed from accessible services or social institutions, he spends his days working as a fisherman alongside his colleagues and family. As a respected captain on the boat, he shows us how participation and mutual respect are essential for a fulfilling life. This powerfully filmed documentary opens a window into a world that feels distant yet resonates with universal truths.

Egg Cup Requiem by Carolin Bochet and Nick Mayow pays tribute to 90-year-old Johnny Green, who reflects on early traumas and decades of psychological challenges. With gentle sensitivity, the directors create a stage for Johnny’s captivating storytelling, weaving it with vibrant images of his cherished egg cup collection. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the filmmakers for their thoughtful and respectful approach.
